People are often confused or surprised by having seen a black or dark Golden Retriever. One can’t help but wonder whether they’re pure breed or mixed. There’s a big chance that what you may have seen was simply a mixed breed of some sort. So what’s the hype about pure bred black golden retrievers and whether they truly exist? Before getting down to the truth, let’s explore two theories that are in circulation.
Black Golden Retrievers – The First Theory
According to the first theory, black golden retrievers appear as the result of recessive gene manifestation. Black golden retrievers may be a direct result of breeding a golden retriever with the Tweed Water Spaniel and later crossing their offspring with a sandy-colored Bloodhound or Irish Setter among other breeds. There’s a pretty good chance that most golden retrievers today may be carrying the genes of all these breeds and still preserve the wild-type gene from, for instance, Flat-coat retrievers that may cause the birth of black golden retrievers.
Black Golden Retrievers – Something Noteworthy:
Black golden retrievers appear more often if their parents were siblings. However, you should not breed siblings nor take the above statement as a reason to do so. Under no circumstance is it safe to breed siblings, it may result in genetic problems and bad temperament in the breed.
Black golden Retrievers – The Second Theory
According to the Theory One naysayers, the gene was found present in the early 20th century and isn’t something new. Dog enthusiasts who support this theory point out that after the war, the number of golden retrievers and other breeds of dogs feel drastically; some kennel clubs allowed “pink form” registrations. What does that mean? It means that at the time, if a dog looked like it met breed standards then it was considered a purebred and could be registered as such. Lots of folks believe that this particular registration period may have been the catalyst for the expansion of the gene pool in golden retriever breeds and hence the “black” gene in some golden retrievers. Note: the same theory is actually used to explain the growing unprovoked aggression in golden retrievers that is found today; very atypical for the breed.
Regardless of the color of the golden retriever coat, these beautiful dogs continue to be some of the most intelligent, dedicated and loving friends and family members of many homes. Black golden retrievers grow at the same rate as regular ones, eat the same food, have the same love of water and desire the same amount of exercise. And as golden retrievers, they also, unfortunately, carry some of the breeds’ typical health problems.
If you decide to adopt a black be sure to consider all the steps you’d need to take before fully enjoying the company of such a wonderful dog.

The American Kennel Club (AKC) standard states the coat is a "rich, lustrous golden of various shades", disallowing coats that are extremely light or extremely dark. This leaves the outer ranges of coat colour up to a judge's discretion when competing in conformation shows. Therefore, "pure white" and "red" are unacceptable colours, as is black .[15] The Kennel Club (UK) also permits cream as an acceptable coat colour.[13] Judges may also disallow Goldens with pink noses, or those lacking pigment. The Golden's coat can also be of a mahogany colour, referred to as "redheads", although this is not accepted in the British show ring.[13] As a Golden grows older, its coat can become darker or lighter, along with a noticeable whitening of the fur on and around the muzzle. Anjing golden bulunya bagus yah. Apalagi kalo yang terawat banget, bulunya bisa bersinar gitu. Aku dulu pengen anjing golden, gede, kalem, bisa dipeluk2. Sayang ga ada perkarangan, kasian anjingnya kalo space-nya ga gede.
kalau spacenya kecil sebaiknya pelihara anjing trah kecil sperti pom, atau kalau mau golden minimal sehari sekali diajak jalan2
kupo: iya kupo aku piara pom sama shih tzu. semoga entar kalo punya rumah sendiri bisa piara golden. pengen bangeettt. tapi menurutku anjing2 kecil juga harus diajak jalan loh. aku biasa kalo lagi pulang kerumah suka ajak kayla sama kellie lari keliling komplek. kalo aku perhatiin, kalo mereka diajak jalan, biasa mereka lebih nurut. mungkin karena energinya udah kebuang kali, ga ada tenaga buat jadi bandel. kayaknya kalo anjing gede malah harus dua kali diajak jalan soalnya energinya jauh lebih gede. CMIIW.

Kupoooo.. I need your advice.
Bulan lalu Starsky infeksi, waktu mbok adopsi dia sudah di desexed tapi mungkin operasinya ndak benar-benar bersih. Sudah mbok bawa ke vet lalu diberi antibiotik, sekarang Starsky sudah sembuh.
Sekarang Hutch kelihatan sakit, seperti ndak enak badan. Biasanya setiap mbok pulang kantor mereka lari ke pagar depan menyambut mbok, Hutch yang larinya paling kencang. Tapi tadi dia cuma jalan cepat. Mbok takut dia masuk angin karena udara sudah mulai dingin, atau salah makan yang ndak cocok dengan percernaannya. What should I do? Bawa ke vet?
@ mbok. Coba dilihat selera makannya gimana, kalau ga mau makan, hidung kering, dan kelihatan lemas sebaiknya dibawa ke vet. Kalau selera makan masih bagus coba kasih vitamin dan dipantau terus kondisinya..
Semoga hutch cepat sembuh ..

Iya, mereka berdua jantan. Selera makan bagus tapi memang Hutch ndak segembul Starsky. Hidungnya kering dan dia ndak seriang biasanya. Iya deh, besok mbok bawa ke vet.
Dulu mbok pelihara kelinci, dia mati di tanganku.
Starsky n hutch vaksin komplit kan mbok? Biasanya kalau sdh divaksin sih aman...
Anjing jauh lebih kuat dari kelinci.. jadi ga perlu terlalu kuatir. Apalagi selera makan masih bagus.
Tapi kalau mau lebih mantap ga ada salahnya dibawa ke vet

Dari surat-suratnya vaksin komplit. Mungkin mbok terlalu kuatir ya. Pak mbok bilang Hutch pura-pura sakit supaya dipeluk, tadi memang dia mbok bungkus pakai handuk dan mbok peluk sampai ketiduran.
