People's Pope, Man of the Year

Selamat kepada Bapa suci Paus Fransiskus yang Rabu kemarin dinobatkan sebagai Man of The Year oleh majalah TIME. Seorang Paus yang bergabung dengan ordo Jesuit tahun 1957 ini dulu pernah jadi tukang bersih-bersih, penjaga night club, teknisi dan akhirnya guru sastra. Berbeda dengan dua pendahulunya yang Profesor Teologi, Paus Fransiskus berprinsip bahwa ummat membutuhkan pelayanan yang nyata, bukan teologi yang mbulet.

Beberapa pernyataannya dianggap kontroversial dan menuai kecaman, tapi bagi kaum minoritas, pernyataan-pernyataan itu menjadi angin segar.

Ia dicatat pernah berkata:"saya percaya pada Tuhan, tapi bukan Tuhan Katolik", lalu "Atheis juga mendapat pengampunan dari Tuhan bila mereka berbuat baik", dan ketika ditanya soal kaum homoseksual dia menjawab "saya ini siapa sehingga bisa menghakimi mereka?"

Editor TIME, Nancy Gibbs menulis tentang keputusan majalah tersebut:

Saya sendiri melihat Paus Fransiskus tidak melakukan perubahan doktriner, tapi jelas dia telah merubah nada sikap gereja terhadap isu-isu yang relevan di abad 21 ini.

Iya, saya termasuk yang suka mengamati pernyataan2 beliau,
cukup berani, tapi memberikan pandangan positif terhadap pihak gereja
orang2 jadi melihat bahwa pihak gereja tidak terlalu keras dan lebih humanis
beda banget sama pendahulunya.

gereja selama ini selalu terkesan kaku, dan ngefokus ke hal2 yang kurang relevan
sikap yang humanis itu menurutku memberi kesan inclusive
dan kurasa yang perlu ditekankan ya sikap humanisme ini, oleh institusi apapun, karena itu adalah bahasa paling universal.

Gw sih agak2 kurang sepakat dengan caranya dia yg terlalu fleksibel.
Yg namanya tonggak pegangan itu harus kokoh, tegak dan kaku... setelah itu pengikutnya boleh agak fleksibel.

Kalo tonggaknya aja udah goyang ya susah jadi pegangan.

Tapi ya untungnya semua pernyataan dia masih belum ada penyimpangan, tergantung interpretasi si pendengar.

Kebetulan saya pernah berproses melewati masa ababil di lingkungan serikat jesuit/ordo jesuit selama 7 tahun.
Kebetulan pula lingkungan tsb memiliki prinsip ada embel2 humanistik.
Jadi boleh dibilang mengamati keseharian jebolan rohaniawan SJ, yang meski mereka pelayanannya bukan melulu di gereja.
Kalau melihat dan membandingkan dengan manusiamanusia dari komunitas ordo lain,
Yang ordo lain itu memang terkesan sangat saklek dan kaku.
Ohya sekedar informasi Jorge Mario Bergoglio SJ atau sekarang dikenal Bapa suci Paus Fransiskus
Merupakan tokoh pertama kalinya seorang Paus yang berasal dari Ordo Serikat Jesuit.

dan iya, berdasarkan yang saya baca, jesuit kan memang fokusnya ke pelayanan ya, itu memang akarnya dan awal mulanya jesuit ter-established, yaitu untuk melayani, sama skali bukan untuk berambisi 'naik karir' (catholicism-speak ). dan kupikir memang ironis ya, yang harusnya jadi pelayan malah jadi paus tapi kurasa prinsip2 itu dibawa oleh dia sampe ke vatican juga, keliatan dari sikap2 humanisnya yang public ini.

Tarekat atau ordo

jadi sepertinya ordo itu diambil dari kata order ya

ho oh, seperti di tulis oleh etca, order dalam bahasa Indonesia diterjemahkan sebagai "tarikat" yang berarti kumpulan atau ikatan. Berbeda dengan "serikat" yang merupakan persekutuan kelompok yang berbeda, "tarikat" adalah perkumpulan pihak-pihak yang homogen. Beberapa tarikat yang independen bisa berkumpul menjadi satu serikat tanpa kehilangan otonomi mereka.

Sebenarnya istilah order sendiri tidak eksklusif untuk perkumpulan keagamaan, dulunya order ini sama saja seperti kata "organization", tapi belakangan istilah order mengalami penyempitan dan hanya dipakai untuk keagamaan atau gelar kehormatan.
